Eco-underlay brand SpringBond’s anti-allergy credentials have been endorsed by a leading charity.

The innovative product has been awarded Allergy UK’s prestigious Seal of Approval after undergoing rigorous scientific testing.
SpringBond is the first floor covering underlay to achieve the Allergy UK Seal of Approval. Importantly, this allows people who suffer from dust, dust mite allergies and struggle with harmful indoor pollution to confidently choose an underlay that helps them reduce allergens in their home.

SpringBond underlay is made from recycled PET, which includes plastic bottle material, offering maximum performance with minimum environmental impact.

PET is a stable and virtually inert substance and is inherently flame resistant and anti-microbial as well as being hypo-allergenic, with no toxic chemicals or solvents involved in its manufacture.
SpringBond has become recognised for providing industry-leading comfort, warmth and unrivalled soundproofing, but because it contains no polyurethane foam, there are no harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds), meaning users also benefit from better air quality wherever it’s fitted.

Polyurethane-based underlay is known for breaking down over time and crumbling to dust underneath the carpet, contributing to harmful indoor air pollution.
The revolutionary SpringBond carpet underlay is created using hypo-allergenic fibres breathable, dust- and odour-free and fully recyclable at the end of its usable life.
Allergy sufferers know the dangers and misery caused by polluted indoor air.

VOCs can be harmful to health and PU foam in carpet underlay, furniture and beds can be a major contributor.
In addition to harmful VOCs, indoor air quality is under threat from allergens found in dust mite waste, which are one of the common triggers for asthma, eczema and other respiratory conditions.
Because SpringBond doesn’t degrade over time like PU foam, it remains virtually dust-free throughout its lifespan.

The PET fibres in its breathable construction are moisture, rot and mildew repellent, which helps inhibit dust mite infestations.
Allergy UK has been helping people affected by sensitivity, intolerance and allergy for more than 25 years.

As part of its role, the health charity works with manufacturers to test and promote useful products that may alleviate some of the pain and pressures associated with allergy.
All products that receive their Seal of Approval have been thoroughly scientifically tested, with checks carried out in an independent laboratory to protocols created by leading allergy specialists.
There is no known cure for allergy, and in the UK there is an increasing demand for products that can help improve the quality of life for those living with often debilitating allergic conditions.

James Taylor, managing director of SpringBond manufacturer Texfelt, said: “We are delighted about attaining the seal of approval from Allergy UK for our SpringBond underlays.
“We’ve worked tirelessly to create a product which is neither made from and does not require chemical treatment, is solvent-free and wholly sustainable.

“Having now achieved this recognition from Allergy UK, it provides further reassurance to our retailers, and in turn their customers, that that they can enjoy these benefits of our greener, cleaner and safer SpringBond underlays.”
