Flooring the Nation: Innovative Eco-Underlay Partners with UK’s Leading Flooring Retailer

TF-1024x682

An eco-engineered flooring underlay, which is made using recycled PET plastic bottles and other single-use plastics, is now being stocked in one of the UK’s leading flooring retailers.

Manufactured by Bradford-based Texfelt, SpringBond will now be available at retail giant Flooring Superstore – which will offer the innovative underlay both online and instore.

Usually available in 9mm or 11mm depths, Texfelt has manufactured a new 10mm variation of SpringBond exclusive to the flooring retailer, which will be uniquely known as Ocean 10. The thickness of the underlay not only gives it industry-leading sound-proofing properties and exceptional heat insulation, but also offers superb comfort underfoot.

With more than 85% of the underlay made from recycled plastics, Ocean 10 helps to combat the eight million tonnes of plastic pollution that fills our oceans every year, making it the ideal option for homeowners who want to make more environmentally-conscious lifestyle choices.

The underlay is fully recyclable at the end of its usable life – creating a closed-loop manufacturing cycle – and contains no harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds), promoting better air quality around the home.

Ocean 10 is already available in 12 Flooring Superstore locations, with additional stores due to stock the underlay in the coming months.

James Taylor, Managing Director at Texfelt, which manufactures Ocean 10, said: “The world needs to reduce its plastic consumption now more than ever, and it’s our responsibility to lead the industry by creating greener alternatives to everyday domestic items.

“Growing our network with suppliers is a significant step towards combatting the millions of tonnes of single-use plastic wasted every year, so we are thrilled to be partnering with Flooring Superstore to bring our eco-friendly underlay to even more homes.”

Dan Foskett, Managing Director at Flooring Superstore, said: “We are delighted to be working with Texfelt to support such an important innovation – its underlay not only repurposes plastic waste but also performs better than most. As one of the UK’s largest flooring suppliers, we can’t wait to share Ocean 10 with our customers nationwide.”
